# 3.2 - Prison Risk Level Procedures

  <Step title="Determining the Risk Level" icon="gauge">
    Level of risk inside the prison is determined by the expected likelihood of conflict amongst inmates. It dictates the use of force being authorised for Corrections Officers and the Emergency Response Team. Any escalation of the risk level requires an incident report being written and published. Refer to the top of the Discord for the current level.

  <Step title="Authority to Set the Risk Level" icon="user-shield">
    The officers on duty have absolute control over the risk level of the prison at that time. Meaning, if there is an incident in the prison then officers are able to TEMPORARILY move the risk level to the level deemed appropriate. If there are no DOC Command or ERT Supervisors, then there must be unanimous agreement on the level.

  <Step title="Risk Level One" icon="1">
    i. Regular operations of the prison. It mandates that only less-than-lethal is equipped, and all weapons remain holstered.

    ii. Officers should opt to use officer presence, verbalisation, and empty hand control if needed to de-escalate situations.

  <Step title="Risk Level Two" icon="2">
    i. This is triggered by a minor incident in the prison, presence of High Security Inmates, or Correctional Officers being outnumbered with hostility or aggression being present.

    ii. This allows stun guns and nightsticks to be drawn for personal protection.

  <Step title="Risk Level Three" icon="3">
    i. This is triggered by a major incident in the prison, especially involving a weapon. This authorises engagement with the Beanbag Shotgun, and tactical ERT uniform is advised.

    ii. Areas of the prison may be locked down and movement of inmates may be limited, for example between the yard and the cell blocks.

  <Step title="Risk Level Four" icon="4">
    i. This is triggered by a severe incident in the prison, particularly riots and escape attempts.

    ii. DOC Command and ERT Supervisors are able to authorise lethal weapons being carried, and full ERT riot gear is advised.

    iii. All inmates should be locked in cells until the risk level falls.
