# General Uniform Guidelines

* This applies to all Correctional staff employed by the Department of Corrections.
* You must always wear a marked Department of Corrections uniform or gear while on duty.
* You must always equip a duty belt & gun holster.
* You must always wear closed work boots while on duty.
* Wearing tactical vests is optional unless specified under an outfit. If you choose to wear a vest, anything that says DOC is allowed.

  The plate carrier or tactical vests should only be worn outside the prison for inmate transports.

* Leg holsters and tactical pants reserved for the Emergency Response Team. Cargo pants may be worn by any officer.
* Hats, gloves, and other accessories may be worn, but must remain professional and not infringe on your abilities as a Corrections Officer at any time.
* Rank insignias must be added to a uniform whenever applicable. Patch colors are to be black and silver.
* These are only guidelines and you may customise (e.g. different duty belt) where reasonable. Ask a Supervisor if you are unsure whether you’ll be allowed to wear something.
* If you are told to change something about your uniform by a Supervisor, you must do so or face warnings/strikes.
