Procedures for classifying, searching, and managing inmates at the San Andreas Department of Corrections.

Inmate Classification

Inmates will be sorted into 3 categories, Low, Medium, and High Security. All regular inmates transported to the prison are to be classified as Low Security. For those staying for an extended period, FIB will advise a classification for that inmate.
  • There are no known security/safety risks.
  • Prisoner is allowed normal access in the prison.
  • Prisoner is allowed to have normal visitation rights.
  • Allowed to have a phone/radio (unless noted that they are not allowed).
  • There are slight to medium security/safety risks with the prisoner.
  • Prisoner must have a Correctional Officer present while out of the cell (if there is one on duty).
  • Prisoner is allowed restricted visitation rights.
  • Phone/Radio must be removed.
  • There is a serious security/safety risk with the prisoner.
  • Inmates are confined to their cell and must be supervised at all times.
  • Prisoners are NOT allowed any unapproved visitors.
  • DOC may carry their lethal weapon if required.

Intake

Search inmates on arrival

Once inmates arrive at the prison they MUST be FULLY searched.
  • Take any weapons or contraband that PD did not take.
  • They can receive these items again before they leave.

Assign a cell and process

Inmates are given a cell number, then sent to eat food, and clean up.

Searches

At a minimum of 10+ minutes a Correctional Officer can conduct a random search (these should not be a full search, just a pat down) of the inmates and a random area-check of the facilities. These being random are key.
  • Any contraband is to be taken, and stored in the evidence locker.
  • Remember to make a report in #doc-contraband.
Inmates who do not cooperate can be searched more often, and can be fully searched; though, if they start cooperating, return to the 10+ minute random searches.
It is pointless to search someone who has been standing next to you the entire time.

Daily Management

  • Inmates are to be accounted for ALL TIMES.
  • Inmates are to be escorted to the cafeteria to eat.

Injuries

If an inmate is injured in a fight, escort them to the infirmary. Place the inmate in a bed, and contact EMS if available. If they are not, allow them to check in. If they are RPing out their injuries to a greater extent, or they were shanked, etc, take them to the medical bay and you may contact a doctor to see if they would like to check up on the inmate in the medical wing.
If no doctor is available, they can choose to ICU with Nancy at the medbay. (Don’t forget to give them their items if they will be out of the prison next time they wake up.)

Locking Cells

Do not lock people in their cells unless they are problematic.
  • If they are problematic (spam punching), feel free to isolate them in a cell for 5-10 minutes to allow them to cool down.
  • Solitary confinement can also be used for this purpose.
Locking the main cell doors is permitted when people are missing, if you need to control a chaotic situation, or if inmates are rioting.
In the event you are unable to get the situation under control, refer to 3.8 - Riot Procedures.

Adjusting Jail Time

Jail time can be altered depending on the inmate’s behavior +/- 5 months.
  • Compliant inmates can have their jail time reduced.
  • Noncompliant inmates can have their jail time increased.
  • Lifers will need their jail time altered if they are running out of time.
Command:
An inmate’s time should NEVER be adjusted more than once per inmate without approval from a Sergeant or above.
